Day 17: feeeeling good!

hey guys!!

i am just feeling better and better every day!!! just being able to get up and make my own coffee without taking a good half hour is sooo amazing! The best part i think though is being able to sit down to eat. Its really annoying trying to eat when you are laying on your stomach... do not recommend.

I have a doctors apt tomorrow... i have t o drive myself!! ahhh! lets hope i really am doing as well as i feel. im nervous for the bumps or the quick stops... and i wont be able to take any pain meds before i head out... little scary... wish me luck!!

other than that everything is really boring.... movies and books are starting to get old.... blllaaaahhh.

Day 16: :)

hey guuuys!!!

I am sooo happy about how much better i feel!! im down to two vicodins a day... compared to 6-7!! aaaand i can sit down for dinner AND for a brief amount of time i can sit up on my side on the couch!!! life is good :) next step... walking like a normal person... even though i have officially passed on my walker to somebody who needs it more...

so i had such a fun holiday and i am so sad it is over :( back to doing nothing but watching tv and movies... but to help me through it, the Krengel's sent me all different kinds of flavors of pop corn... one of which is s'mores.... i know, awesome.

Day 14: Gobble Gobble GObble!!!

HELLOOO!!

HAPPPPYYY turkey daaaay!!! sorry i forgot yesterday.... i was so excited to be with my family i forgoooot.

I am still getting better and better! gauze change does not hurt as much anymore (THAAAAANNKKK GOD!!!) i even played charades with everyone today, like a normal person! it was so fun!

I also ate way too much... woopsy, but it was so worth it and i make no apologies. My beautiful soon to be cousin-in-law finally revealed her wedding dress... OMG it is sooo pretty! i cant wait to stand next to her in just a few short months.

I hope everyone had as good a thanksgiving as me and better luck at euchre too...i miss everyone and i am SO thankful for all of the wonderful people in my life :) miss you all!!!

Day 12: oone is the lonliest nummber....

heeyyooo!!!

I woke up at 2:oo PM today!!! hahaha, that gave me a good two hours of sunlight... it gets so dark so fast here its driving me crazy! mom had work all day today so i had the house to myself, alllll byyy myself... haha, i watched a lot of "Lost" episodes! actually, that is all i did... its so addicting!

I can tell i am healing, it hurts less and less each day, although i still walk like a 100 year old. We are taking pictures of my wound every day now to see the progression of healing! i wont post the pictures because i know that some people may not be ok with them haha.... its kinda gory. If you do want to see them though i can send them to ya via email!!! my email is vanandab@msu.edu :)

tomorrow i head to Indiana to see my cousins and aunt and uncle... SO PUMPED!!!! :) I love thanksgiving with my family, we are all so.... special.... AND it will be a nice change! i get to lay on my stomach somewhere else! wooohooo!

Im really starting to miss my friends :( i think they need to come see me soon.... (cough cough)

Day 11: whats up doc?

Woke up today... and felt EVEN BETTER!!! I think i may actually be healing! its hard to think that my tailbone could actually feel fine with a big gaping hole in it, but it does :) I only had to use my walker once! ONCE! YESSS!!!!

Went to the doctors today, he said I was doing just fine! i really like the guy, he has kind eyes and is more laid back than me... sweeeet. I think he likes me too, he laughs at my jokes and gives me candy... yup, i like my doctor!

I am starting the "Lost" serious... weeeiiirrrddd stuff, but im hooked already!

i miss everyone...

Day 10: WE GOT A BLEEDER!!!

ahh finally I can say the pain is better than the day before!!! lets hope its not a fluke!!! I actually SAT DOWN in a chair today, thanks to a special pillow! you just cant eat ribs on your stomach.... you just cant. Gives me hope to sit at the Thanksgiving table with the rest of the family on Thursday :) I am MAKING that trip to Indianapolis even if it kills me...

Sooo, the pain is better, but boy oh boy am I bleeeding!!! nooo fun. On top of the thousands of layers of gauze, i have pads lining my underwear now... i go through more pads than a girl in the 7th grade...

I have a doctors apt tomorrow so after that i will know if i am healing correctly or not. fingggers crroossed!

Day 8: one week ago this was day 1!

Its been a day today. I finally broke and cried at every opportunity that I could find... and I can find a lot. Pain... rent... even a PRESENT made me cry!! So, i asked for jokes from friends to help cheer me up, and boy did that help! here are some of my favs...

A patient needed a brain transplant and the doctor told the family, "Brains are very expensive, and you will have to pay the costs yourselves."
"Well, how much does a brain cost?" asked the relatives.
"For a male brain, $500,000. For a female brain, $200,000," replied the doctor.

Day 7: Vico-doodle-dandy

Its been a pretty blaaah day... didnt really do much! I am pretty sad that New Moon comes out in theater at midnight tonight and I will nooot be there... Edward is going to be so mad at me... o well... he will live... (forever) haha, a little vampire joke ;)

It is hurting a little more every day, but soon it will reverse and i am sooo ready for that! until then... thank goodness for medication!!

Day 6: Im sooo lucky!!!! (kinda)

No really, i am pretty lucky!! i have the BEST friends and family ever :) I am getting so much support and love from everyone and i am so grateful!! My grandma just sent me... CHOCOLATE! he he heeeee!!!

today started out a little rough...my mom and I booty bumped each other. Usually that would be a pretty cool statement... but that changes a bit when the booty bouncie' (Me) has a painful chunk missing from the target area. My poor mommy felt horrible and i felt like i was going to puke... but then the chocolates came and made everything better :)

I watched "My Fair Lady" today, whhhattt a classic!! downside: it is a musical and now i have all those songs on repeat in my little drugged up brain.

Day 5: i <3 my walker!

well heellooo

Hey guys! doing better today :) tailbone still hurts like hell but we found out that the zinc made me sick and NOT the double dose... so i dont feel so pukey today WOOOP WOOOPP! And i just wanted to thank my grandma again for my walker... it honestly makes all the difference!!! its just funny that for the past 2 years i have been dressing up as old people...


all im saying is be careful what you wish for...

Day 4: Day of Nausea

helllo!!!

today was just awful!! My tailbone hurt a lot this morning so my mom and i thought it would be a good idea to take TWO vicodens before my gauze change, and it was pretty sweet.... till it started to wear off... i got sooooo sick it was not fun!! we cant be sure if it was the double dose or the zinc i had to take, both of which are known to make someone sick.

A BIG thanks to my Fort Wayn family :) Nothing makes me more happy then a good romantic comedy! i will for sure watch "the proposal" and "the ugly truth" tomorrow! i love you grandma, aunt deb, shawn, T, Nikki, and my little emma!!! you guys are wonderful :)

Day 3: the pain showed up

ouch... it hurts today :/ not such a good day. Now that i know what to expect i will be able to deal with it better tomorrow though, it kinda caught me off guard today! I'll write more tomorrow...

p.s. i got a walker...with BREAKS!!!! its prettttty sweet, im decorating it tomorrow :) i will post pictures when its all done!

Day 2: COOKIESSS

I had a doctors apt. this morning for my first gauze change.... it was yucky... They taught my mom how to do it and boy do i feel bad for her. She said she could see my tailbone and that the hole was the size of a medium size apple ( don't worry, it made me dizzy too). It still doesnt hurt yet because the nerve endings are still paralyzed... but in about a day or two the doctor said "it will get pretty uncomfortable..." what i think he meant to say was "its going to hurt like hell, sucks to be you."

kick ass note: My Indy family sent me COOOOKKKIEEESSS yum!!! My aunt said that the faces on the cookies were all the faces i make on my meds... she was so right :)

DAY 1: this is going to suck...

surgery went well... my anesthetist looked just like an oompa loompa so that was fun. The only thing that is protecting my actual tail bone from the outside world is gauze (SIIIIICCCCKKKK). I got some good pain meds though so thats great. It doesnt hurt that much yet because it is still numb.... im scared out of my mind when that stuff wears off though :/ im a little woozy and out of it from this morning so if this makes no sense to anyone sorrry haha. ok, im taking a vicoden and watching Lord of the Rings haha wooohoooo!!
